AOPS "Update Via Local File" does not see version.txt
I have a text file called 'version.txt' that contains '0.9'. Our side has it's own version.txt that reads '1.0'. I've tried running the AOPS patcher, but it says 'Local version file does not exist!'
I tried to get this resolved on Discord, but it was the same time the verified owner's lounge was locked. My user name on discord is '40902nd'.
In reply to Fat3sCora1r, whom I wasn't able to respond to on Discord, I've tried it with the local version.txt set to both '0.9' and 1.1'. Neither work, and I don't think the launcher even gets that far. I have included the patch log, as I tried running it with debug mode on, but it does not provide me with any information beyond the obvious.
I am sure it's just a syntax error on my part, something so simple that it's not even included in the troubleshooting guides.
EDIT: As .log is not an allowed file type, I'll include the contents in a quote:
[Initial Load]
[Stage 1] - Loading Configuration Files...
[ERROR]: Local version file does not exist!
@psyden - This is a basic error really. The launcher cannot find the local version file (version.txt), or there is a read permission error. Can you show us your AOPS settings from within your launcher settings?
The version.txt also needs to be in the same folder.
Also, try using internal reference numbers instead of floats. For example, try just using 1 and 2 and 3 for the update numbers, instead of 1.0 and 0.9.
I can't post pictures here, but I posted it on discord (date 8/21/2022 in the verified-owners-lounge), which shows both the AOPS setting I am using, as well as the content of the folder.
The version.txt is in the same folder as the Launcher and AOPS executables.
The problem I am having is that AOPS can't find the .txt file. Or at least that is what it is telling me. I would assume that if it was a problem with comparing version numbers that it would say so, correct?
You can post images here using the 'Attach File:' [Choose File] button below this editor.
Yes you are correct, it would report a discrepancy. But this is an unusual discrepancy, in that if the file is there and it's saying there's an error, it's something external outside of GLC where the issue lies, like a file permission error or something.
Can you report back here your findings, and can you also attach your launcher and the files all zipped up? Or email your launcher files all zipped up to support@gamelaunchercreator.com and I can download and test my side.
If this was you?
No, mine is New Beginnings.
Here it is.
